Rozgar.Work: Microsoft Launches Pakistan’s First Employability & Entrepreneurship Platform

Microsoft, along with its implementing partner, World Vision-Pakistan, has launched Rozgar.Work – an Employability and Entrepreneurship Platform. The Rozgar.work platform provides job-seekers with end-to-end career guidance, up skilling, job-matching and mentorship – all centered on a free online hub that brings the best resources together in a bold attempt to address unemployment and underemployment.
The platform is powered by Microsoft Windows Azure Cloud, SQL, & SharePoint 2013. The Federal Minister for Planning and Development – Mr. Ahsan Iqbal was the chief guest at the launch ceremony held in the Serena Hotel, Islamabad.
Rozgar.Work is aimed at catalysing ‘Employability’ and ‘Entrepreneurial skills’ among the Pakistani youth. It is a Microsoft YouthSpark initiative to create a comprehensive ecosystem to support the talented Pakistani youth in enhancing their skill-set and ensure a bright future for the whole nation.
Microsoft’s solution, in the form of its Employability Platforms, has previously landed in 16 markets to date and will expand to 21 countries across MEA. To date, the YouthSpark employability platform has reached 5.8 million youth with a target of reaching 7 million by the end of FY15. In addition, 69,000 job opportunities have been posted on the job search tool against 100,000 job openings goal to be reached by the end of the year.
Speaking on the occasion the Federal Minister for Planning – Mr. Ahsan Iqbal stated that:
It is heartening to see a technology leader like Microsoft, working on Youth Workforce Development, in collaboration with a robust humanitarian organization like ‘World-Vision International-Pakistan’.
Leveraging technology can help expand social-development outreach like never before. Smartphone penetration and increased connectivity can transform eLearning & teaching resources, while opening fresh avenues of knowledge for the masses. We need to invest on our youth, to meet national challenges.
The Employability Platform nurtures the essential ingredients for Workforce Development, and helps the youth in becoming employed or self-employed. The Rozgar.Work platform has adopted a unique approach by offering; ‘Career Counseling & Guidance’ with info and stats about job markets. It provides ‘Mentorship’ along with Training to develop Soft & Hard Skills.
The platform also boasts Online & Mobile Job-Matching & Search-functionality’. The ‘Entrepreneurial Resources’ section of the platform helps in enhancement of Business skills, while the ‘Networking Opportunities’ section helps the youth in expanding their Community-based networking capabilities.
This platform offers a comprehensive solution to the diverse needs of the youth, while helping them identify the most suitable career trajectories. Rozgar.Work also offers extensive On-line and Off-line training options for different skills – customized to specific target groups and market needs. Resources are provided to budding entrepreneurs, along with cutting-edge tools that help them leverage productivity and technology, to ensure their entrepreneurial growth.

NADRA Makes a Substantial Reducation in Smart ID Card Fees

The fee for the Smart National Identity Card (SNIC) has been decreased by NADRA. Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar, has ordered the authority to reduce the fees for the smart ID cards substantially, we have learned. Online Passport Renewal Service Revealed in Pakistan

Like we told you earlier about the  NADRA’s online passport system  that they have been developing for quite some time now and it appears that we have finally a sneak peak of what it will look like at the time of launch. NADRA and Directorate General of Immigration and Passports have collaborated to offer Pakistani citizens a service that they badly needed, i.e. to be able renew their passports online without going to Passport offices. Service would be aimed for both Pakistanis living in Pakistan and abroad. Service is currently not available immediately, but it is said that service will be made available very soon now. Anyone with an expired passport or if its validity is less than 7 months would be able to ahead and apply for passports online and get the renewed passport delivered to a designated postal address.
