The Internet Hates Instagram’s New Logo and Design

The compulsion to follow modern design philosophy is perhaps the most acceptable thing in technology. Using bad design in the name of modernism certainly isn’t.  Follow Brittany Renner   ‎@brittanyrennerr I really am not grasping the all white concept in Instagram's new design. So you put less thought into the layout and call it an update lol 11:08 AM - 12 May 2016     11 11 Retweets     17 17 likes asa         Instagram has unveiled its new logo moving forward, a move which is clearly different from the retro looking camera that you’re used to seeing. As it turns out, the effort is almost certainly not guaranteed to go down as one of the most undesirable design changes. The old, sophisticated logo is replaced by a flatter theme (expected) with white outlines that resemble a camera (barely). It is so uncomplicated that it can easily find its place in a kindergarten class but the question is, do yo...

Samsung Unveils the First 256 GB microSD Card

People with high-end shooting devices rejoice. Samsung has announced a new EVO Plus 256 GB microSD card which has the highest storage capacity in its class and will retail for $250 (approx. Rs, 26,000). We have already seen similar solutions from SanDisk quite a while back, but none quite comes close to Samsung in terms of legroom and features. The card is UHS-I, Class 10 (U3) compatible, so it won’t be a slouch when it comes to speeds. Supporting Samsung’s latest V-NAND technology and Charge Trap Flash, it can achieve read speeds of 95MB/s and write speeds of 90MB/s. It is also built to last long. According to Samsung, it is waterproof at under up to one meter for 30 minutes, as well as X-ray, temperature and magnetic-proof. There’s also 10-year warranty to go along with that, so there’s that. So how much storage exactly is 256 GB? Enough to record up to 12 hours of 4K UHD, 33 hours of Full HD & 46 hours of 720p videos; 23,500 MP3s, or 55,200 photos. It can also shoot 10...

Samsung Announces the 10.1″ Galaxy Tab (2016) Slate

It is quite easy to confuse Samsung’s naming scheme and think we have covered the same product twice. The latest in line of Samsung tablets is the new Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) which comes weeks after its 7” version was uncovered. The Tab A 10.1 comes with a 10.1” PLS display (which is a variant of the much-known IPS) with 1200 x 1920 resolution, which is slightly better than 1080p. It has three physical keys at the front in portrait. Underneath, you’ll get a 1.6 Ghz octa-core Exynos 7870 chipset with 2 GB worth RAM and 16 GB worth storage, which can be expanded by 200 GB (though, with Samsung itself now making a 256 GB card, we can’t see how that can’t be a possibility). The back camera is of 8 megapixels, with LED and 1080p video recording, coupled with a 2 MP front shooter. The tablet runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow customized, and has an optional LTE variant with download speeds of up to 300Mbps. Otherwise, the usual Wi-Fi version supports the faster ac standard, too. ...

Sadiq Khan All Set to Become the First Muslim Mayor of London

Sadiq Khan, the candidate put forward by the opposition Labor Party, has secured a lead against Zac Goldsmith, making him on track to be London’s first Muslim Mayor. At the current point in time of vote counting, Khan secured 25% votes more than his rival. He will become the first Muslim mayor of a major Western city, a milestone that would hold up London’s repute as a multi-cultural city. Khan had to face a torrid campaign, with his Conservative rivals putting focus on his practising faith, even going on to question his links in the Muslim community. The Tory campaign against him called for the former human rights lawyer to ‘answer questions’ about sharing platforms with other Muslims who were alleged to be of an extremist mindset. Sadiq Khan, the former transport minister, will be elected to the mayorship given his manifesto on bringing affordable housing to Londoners, freezing any rise in fares on the national captial’s transport network and in presenting a business-friendly...
